This book is my favorite graphic novel by far. The artwork is stunning, and the story is unique and hooks the reader in so quickly. I literally could not put this book down. I also loved the fact that it had such incredible representation. The book focuses on such a sweet, pure relationship between two girls, and one of the side characters (Called Elliot like me!!) is nonbinary (also like me!!). I have re-read it twice now and I still cherish every page.

Despite a limited color palette—perhaps because of it—this sci-fi universe is awash with warmth & color, filigreed sparingly with complexities of stars & circuitry, so that every establishing panel is a fresh source of astonishment. The beautiful illustrations are grounded by our protagonist, Mia—a sulky, mousy-seeming young girl who blossoms in front of our eyes as we follow her past & present in an interwoven narrative that ultimately brings together six misfits in a radical family of choice.

I really enjoyed this comic book but I would recommend to read it on paper. I read it as an e-book and there wasn’t enough difference betwen the various timelines and it was not possible to zoom on the panels. This made it hard to always follow which characters were doing what. However I enjoyed the message and the beautiful artwork.

This book was beautiful and I love how the timelines and plot came together in the end. I confess to not reading super carefully and therefore confusing some of the characters and their relationships, but overall it was compelling and unique. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough in the last quarter of the book. Definitely recommend if you like space operas and/or queer found family.
