One of the best true crime books you could ever hope to read. It covers not only one man's horrific murder spree, but also the fascinating history of the Columbian Exposition. Along the way this book touches on a wide range of things from Disney to the feud between Tesla and Edison.

This was my first Erik Larson novel and I was very pleased. The prose is great and brings the history around the world fair and H.H. Holmes to life. It is full of information you probably didn't know and focuses on fascinating historical characters.

love a book with historial accuracy. The backdrop of he story catalogs the planning and development of the Chicago Worlds Fair, and brings to light all of the incredible conveniences of today that were created with the Fair in mind. But it also features the story of a serial killer.
