This book is mostly depression and recaps. It's not like I was expecting a lot, but come on, Stephenie Meyer, if I completely forgot the first one would I be reading the second? Wait, don't answer that.

I didn't feel much development in Bella's character in this book. Yes, Edward left, and yeah, it's pretty sad. But dang, girl! Get over it! Bella has very little internal drive to heal. Instead, she just takes her sweet time fawning over a guy that left her. Did she get the guy in the end? We'll see....

I adored Twilight, but this was such a slog to read. I will probably reread it along with the rest of the books, but still. It was pretty meh.

I feel like this book and the next in the series could have been consolidated into one book. While not a huge fan of the first in the series, it was pretty fun to read. The rest of the series falls flat in that regard.

Review of the series The series gets 5 stars only because it was the one who brought me back into the world of books with a vengeance. It's a good series, don't get me wrong, but it's not a 5 star one for me, not anymore. I rarely change my original rating of a series, though, since it was rated the way it was the first time for a reason - maybe because it was exactly what I wanted to read at the time, or because it made me think, or a few dozen other reasons, so 5 stars it is.
