(Grade: 4/5) Jones accomplishes so much with this novel, depicting modern native life both on and off the reservation while tying culture and tradition into a truly chilling horror plot. The first section is the book's crowning achievement, as the reader follows the psychological spiral of a postal clerk and the natural and supernatural forces which circle around him. His absence in the latter two sections is necessary for the sake of the revenge arc but forces Jones to start from scratch with less success.
