Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'Dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family--and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what it undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction.

teemark (Grade: A) This iconic novel holds up to re-reading more than any other I know of. While set millenia in the future, it's a timeless, detailed story of intrigue, friendship, betrayal, loyalty, and heroism. What can I say that hasn't been said already for a work that's held up for 40 years.

firetaucayenne (Grade: A+) One of my personal favorites, I've read this book more times than I care to count. If you somehow have not read it yet then I would highly suggest you do read it just for a look at the depths of emotion, character, and plot that are present in this wonderful work. If you have read it, then you already know why it's so great.

kaitieochoa (Grade: A) One thing I'll say about this book is you can literally open to any page and find a quotable line. This book was written by a master of the genre, and while the plot alone is genius, the philosophy tied in is wonderfully thought-provoking.

anton (Grade: A) A true masterpiece that deserves all of the praise it has received throughout the years. Though dense and slow at times, as a whole the novel stands as testament to science fiction's potential.
