skaggs77 (Grade: A+) A ton of characters with Russian names that take a while to keep straight, but the depth of this book is amazing. The character development is so good, and the description of the stupidity of war is great, from Tolstoy who served in the Russian military.

Balthazar (Grade: F) War And Peace is not a novel. I read somewhere that Russian books don’t translate well into English and their style of writing is usually dull and boring to an average English reader. This book is a classic example of this point of view. This book was dull. It was boring and didn’t know what it wanted to be. It seemed that when Leo Tolstoy sat down to write this he had so many ideas running around his mind and he just had to get them all out and put down on paper. The result was War And P
