From New York Times Bestselling author Brent Weeks...
For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you never take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums, and learned to judge people quickly - and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint.
But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name. As Kylar Stern, he must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and cultivate a flair for death.

Edgar Allen Bro (Grade: A–) Reading this book felt like I was reading a video game like Dishonored or the Witcher. I have read few books that are capable of maintaing the level of action and chapter after chapter twists and turns like Brent Weeks has done with this book. It was so hard to put down and incredibly captivating. Don't let the cheesy cover fool you, it's a dark and gritty fantasy fiction that has some very mature content and scenes. The only real downside is the dialogue is a bit too modern ins some places.

BrentWeeksFTW (Grade: A+) Favorite books of all time. Really fascinating world that I could not get enough of, and the plot was really quite something! It may start off a little slow but you really get into it.

(Grade: C) The Way of Shadows was a fun book to read, but it had a few flaws, IMO. The plot/politics of the story felt very simple compared to what I initially expected from reading the book's synopsis. I expected political intrigue and backstabbing, major power plays with cunning but it felt much more simple than that. Lastly, the book can get confusing at some portions, particularly with the names of peoples and places that are thrown around with no context or backstory. But I'm looking forward to book 2

Muisje (Grade: D+) I did not like it. A lot of the names were ridiculous, the writer kept skipping a lot in time as well to places, I lost track of what was going on and felt bored while reading it. The writer makes way too much use of the method 'I'm not telling the readers as much as the characters know, this will make it suspenceful'. Mainly because of boredom and frustration, I could not finish this. What I did like was the actual assassin stuff and the excellent world building around it.
